What I love about RedLaser is this App works! You know what I am talking about. You download a App and you find out that the reviews you see are post from the people and or friends of the Apps maker. Sure they are going to be positive. I have no connection to any of them. So here is a honest report on this App.
I used RedLaser for checking out toys for my daughter. At Target we walked up and down the toy section. As she looked at things and played a bit she would move on to the next. I took that moment to fire up RedLaser and scan the barcode on the item. This was great idea. Not only did i get to see what she wanted from Santa but I was making "THE LIST". With this App you generate a list of items you might purchase. Scan the bar code and get web listings on who is selling them and how much there going for. At the end of the long hour of toy testing I sent an email to myself so I could check out each item at home.
RedLaser can help you find the best deal out on the web. The best thing is you can see if its a good deal right there in the store. So if you don't find it cheaper somewhere else you can get it right then with out having to search all day long.
Here is how it works. I'm using a can of Edge shaving cream as an example.
First off find the bar code on the item you want.
Fire up your RedLaser App. This screen shot is of the start up of RedLaser.
At the bottom of the App you see a lightning bolt. Tap on it to fire up the scanner/camera.
Zoom in slowly with the iPhone. This is a screen shot of the App at work. The top and bottom of the scanning box with the arrows will turn green when the bar code is ready to capture it.
If for some reason a bar code can not be scanned and you will find some because of lights, plastic wrap over the bar code, and just some really small bar codes wont scan. You can use the manual entry of the bar code as seen below. When you have entered it click done!
When its captured its searches the web to find that product. Here you see the name and item of the product you scanned. Amazon will be the first listed. Google search will be below Amazon with its results.
When your done you can view your Scanned Products to go back to another time. And you can email your list to yourself or anyone else you want. Great for people asking what you want for Christmas.
All in all I rate this App a 5 out of 5. Trust me the cost of $1.99 is WELL worth it. You save time and money and it pays for its self with just one or two purchases using the App.
